dark souls spoiler?, request for help

okay this game is HARD

how the fuck do you beat the gaping dragon, I looked it up and people are suggesting using things you can't even get until after you beat it, or some kind of extremely upgraded weapons and like how do you get that, titanite is in short supply and the weapon I'm using needs sparkling titanite anyway and I only found two of that

@Felthry First off, if you haven't killed the jerk upstairs that shoots magic at you, do so. You may have to explore some, but he doesn't respawn.

Second, this is a pattern boss. Every move has tells and a recovery period. Be wary of when it rears up to charge, or when it readies to spew acid all over the floor. You may want to try to cut its tail off but be aware that it thrashes that thing a lot. look for its recovery timing. hit once or twice then run back.

@Felthry The best timing to get a bunch of hits in is right after it charges. Chase but not too close, the legs have large hurtboxes when moving. Then smack the tail a bunch. Its recovery time from that charge is immense.

@yaodema I was told something about cutting off its tail to get an item, is that worth doing
