Just learned that there's a theory (which is about as well supported as any theory involving pre-indo-european languages in europe, which is to say, not much but there's no strong evidence against it either) that the celtic language family has an afro-asiatic substrate

that's an interesting thought. There are a weird number of grammatical similarities between celtic and afro-asiatic languages, and there are plausible explanations for how it got there, so it isn't that far-fetched
