linguistics/conlang thought
imagine a language with mandatory pronouns, where in addition to taking the place of nouns they are also required alongside all nouns (perhaps they evolved from what were previously inflectional affixes)
for an example of what i'm thinking, doing this with english would read like "He the boy read it the book"
are there any natural languages that do this, I wonder? It seems like a reasonable enough thing for a language to do.
re: linguistics/conlang thought
@Zlchxo sort of, yeah--which is why I said it could evolve from inflectional affixes
re: linguistics/conlang thought
@Zlchxo like imagine if the Latin ending "us" became a pronoun that could be used independently of the words it went to, for example
re: linguistics/conlang thought
@Felthry I'm sure I've seen languages where the pronouns and gender particles are directly based off of each-other or identical but I can't think of any right now
linguistics/conlang thought
@Felthry this sounds like gendered noun forms with extra steps in that it conveys tde same information
