posthumanism, sort of spoilers for megaman x, zero, and zx, if anyone cares
in megaman X and Zero, there are both humans and reploids, which are advanced human-simulant robots
but in ZX, in the 23rd century, there are just humans... except "human" has changed meaning. There are no fully organic people anymore, and there is no distinction between organic and inorganic lifeforms
There's something I just like about that. it's a pleasant thought, that the meaning of "human" can change
re: posthumanism, sort of spoilers for megaman x, zero, and zx, if anyone cares
@Felthry tbh the whole "seamless merger of 'organic' and 'inorganic'" idea, or at least the dropping of the distinction is a really good concept/trope

Yes.
re: posthumanism, sort of spoilers for megaman x, zero, and zx, if anyone cares
and I really appreciate that they show that dynamic throughout the entire megaman series
in the original series, robots are made by humans for specific tasks, and aren't capable of true consciousness
then Dr. Light makes X, the first reploid, and Dr. Cain uses scans of X to make more reploids, which are initially just robots capable of independent thought and true consciousness, but by the time of megaman Zero, reploids have a fully developed place in society (though there's fighting between humans and reploids, they aren't a unified society yet)
and then in ZX the distinction between human and robot has vanished completely
