I like neopronouns because we're taking what linguists call a "closed class", a category of words that cannot have new words added to it, and adding new words to it anyway

we remember reading something about how closed classes (e.g. prepositions, conjunctions) are processed differently in the brain than open classes (e.g. nouns, verbs) which might be part of the problem with getting people to accept neopronouns--to those people, pronouns are also a closed class and the concept of adding a new word to the "pronoun" category is hard for them to parse, like if you were trying to add a new integer between 9 and 10

today, pronouns are becoming an open class in english among certain groups of speakers

hopefully we'll have them an open class in general soon

then we can move on to conjunctions. those have been closed for far too long

(that last bit wasn't serious, by the way)
