a joke that maybe four people will get without googling
@Felthry JFC I'm so glad i got this
This is my favorite rpg lol
re: a joke that maybe four people will get without googling
@Oneironott it's probably one of the best ever made so i don't blame you for having it as a favorite
re: Suikoden 2 gushing
@Oneironott The whole thing with luca is possibly the best thing in a video game--I *love* how they took the "omnicidal burn-it-all villain" (which is not a very good sort of bad guy) and had him get offed pretty early to be replaced with a *much* better villain whose motives and thoughts you can actually understand
re: Suikoden 2 gushing
@Oneironott Perhaps we missed the details of his backstory.
re: Suikoden 2 gushing
@Felthry Apparently it's not in the game, but his family was basically all slaughtered and he grew up horribly and that's how he turned out the way he did, in a kind of "far beyond redemption" kind of way
re: Suikoden 2 gushing
@Oneironott oh, well then. that recontextualizes some things.
re: Suikoden 2 gushing
@Felthry Probably don't quote me on it but I recall someone discussing it being in side material years ago
re: Suikoden 2 gushing, mention of rape/murder, wiki paste
@Felthry "the source of his anger resulted from an attack on the Highland royalty's entourage by ruffians. Luca was traveling with his mother, Sara, and father, Agares, when they were attacked by a group of ruffians. Luca's father fled in fear, leaving Luca and his mother to their mercy; Sara was raped repeatedly, while Luca was forced to witness the ordeal. He would later discover the ruffians were hired by Muse, and has since developed a profound hatred to the Jowston Alliance and his father, Agares, the incompetent King of Highland. re: Suikoden 2 gushing, mention of rape/murder, wiki paste
@Oneironott oh dear. yeah that's uh. thing.
re: Suikoden 2 gushing
@Felthry Luca's backstory is so tragic though, albeit not terribly explained. I really liked Luca as a terrifying fairly realistic depiction of war and tragedy begetting more war and tragedy, but I always thought his character maybe hit so hard -because- he is replaced by someone whose motivations are so much greyer (and closer to the main character)
