okay, something is wrong with our new laptop

whenever there's video playing, something called "waves maxxaudio service application" starts eating up 15% of CPU time, which maxes out one core and puts high usage on at least one other

searching turns up nothing conclusive, but there are people complaining about it

any advice?

@Felthry it's an audio equalizer

turn off any "audio optimization" applet you find in your system tray, or look for it in your "add and remove programs" list in the control panel and uninstall it

@trwnh ah so it's not actually anything that matters? will probably look into that then if it's going to keep doing this, though restarting helped for now

@Felthry I’ve had the same issue with laptops I set up at work.

The audio drivers are bugged, update them if you can
