Anyone on here know much about music? Kinda want to try to fill in the gaps in our knowledge of the arranging process--every time previously we've had access to sheet music but this time we're thinking of doing arrangements of pieces that don't have sheet music available that we can find.

If our existing musical knowledge matters here--we have past experience playing viola in a school orchestra, and we know bits and pieces (but little to nothing concrete) about music theory. We do not have perfect pitch, or even relative pitch, though we understand that relative pitch at least can be trained

@Felthry From what we remember of our own musical training, the technical term for "turning music heard into sheet music" is ear training, if that helps you find stuff?

we did a little of it years ago for a couple classes and didn't stick with it...
