i kinda wonder what video game has the longest any% speedrun record
wild arms 2 is a candidate, since its record is, i believe, a bit over ten hours
@Felthry wait what's going on with shadow the hedgehog.
@starkatt shadow the hedgehog has branching levels; after each level, your next level is different depending on what you did in that level
when you beat the final boss you're awarded a title based on the specific path you took, doing either the good, neutral, or evil goals of each level (all good gets you one title, all evil gets you another, good-good-neutral-good-evil-evil gets you a third, etc)
100% is defined as getting all of those titles, so it means beating the game over a hundred times
@Felthry that's deeply masochistic.
@starkatt as we recall it, only one person has ever actually done the 100% speedrun and they did it in segments over the course of like four months
@starkatt as far as we're concerned, they can keep their world record--no one else is ever likely to want to actually do that, especially considering that it's... not exactly a great game
@Felthry i think i mentioned this earlier, but the Stanley Parable has an achievement which requires you don't play the game for several /years/! which i think counts as a part of 100%
I remember xenogears being on the order of 16?18? hours, although that was a couple years ago
Did some basic digging and turned up Pokemon Stadium 2.
It has a 'complete the game' category I'd guess is basically any%. The current record speedrun for that is 19 hours and 34 minutes. Found that based on an old EZscape video.
it's not hard to figure out what has the longest 100% speedrun--it's clearly shadow the hedgehog, with its multiple-week-long speedrun and after that is Baten Kaitos with its two-weeks-but-mostly-just-sitting-there-doing-nothing speedrun
but any% is a little more interesting because just, what games take the longest to complete if you *don't* go out of your way to do everything
