...starting to seriously consider spending 60% of our savings on a valve index, rrf

this is not a good idea
-F

@Felthry Would cheaper VR like a Vive or something be an option?

Follow

@IceWolf the vive is lacking a lot of features for the only $100 price difference, and we really don't want to give facebook (who own oculus) any money
-F

@Felthry Oh, I thought the price difference was more than $100, huh.

And yeah, blegh. I am never going Oculus myself either.

@IceWolf a full Index setup costs $999, while a full Vive setup is $899
-F

@IceWolf don't know the cost of the individual components, it's possible the headset itself is significantly cheaper while the controllers are more expensive or something
-F

@IceWolf but none of that matters as we want to get a full setup and buying the full setup is cheaper than buying the individual components
-F

@Felthry Cool!

...well, miiight be a good idea to hold off until you get the job situation sorted out, if savings are where your /food/ and stuff is coming from.

@IceWolf it's not, our parents are thankfully supporting us for food and stuff, but it feels irresponsible to spend that much of our savings
-F

@Felthry Oh, that's good to hear.

Well, I mean,

hm. *swishes tail*

Still, it's significantly /less/ of a bad idea if food and the like isn't involved. (:

@IceWolf you might also be thinking that from looking on amazon or something, since the valve index is only officially sold through the steam store and people selling it on amazon are asking almost twice as much for it to get people with too much money and maybe not enough patience (there's a long wait on shipping them as they are having trouble meeting demand)
=F

@Felthry Oh that's /good/ to know. Nah, I never went looking, just figured it'd be way more expensive for that much of a jump in hardware.
