uspol, health insurance

Well, we just learned something unpleasant. Apparently, with the current state of the ACA, we would be able to get basic health insurance for free, but we can't because we didn't make enough money in this year. If we had made more than $15k this year, we would get free health insurance. But since we didn't, it'd be $500 a month.

Wasn't the point of this to make health care more affordable to low-income people? Why would it cost *more* if we can't afford it?

@IceWolf I'm guessing it's probably part of the gutting that the congress of the time did to it, or possibly some of the amendments that have been made by the current regime.
