we still don't really see the point of 4k

i can get 1440p maybe but 4k seems excessive
-F

@Felthry Personal taste and context dependant, maybe?
I use a laptop a lot, and its old standard density display is plenty for my use.
Having a 4k display might make things sharper, but would mean trading higher load and decreased battery life, which isn't a useful to me (ignoring money).

On a larger display it might make more sense, though what one'd do with all those pixels I don't know.
Alternatively, some people seem much more sensitive to display artefacts than I am?

@Felthry I mean, it only makes sense in desktop monitors (sit near) for me and mostly for text legibility and stuff. On a TV (sit far) , I see no much difference after 1080p and on a laptop there's the battery tradeoff.
