@packbat in this case, HP (yes the same HP you're thinking of) made a lot of good quality electronic test equipment in the 80s, then sometime in the 90s or 00s they spun off their test equipment division into a new company called Agilent, then in 20...15? 2016?, Agilent spun off their electronic test equipment division into a new company called keysight

@packbat other noteworthy test equipment companies are tektronix/fluke/keithley (three brands owned by the same company), teledyne lecroy (which used to be two companies called teledyne and lecroy), yokogawa, and hioki (they make pretty specialized stuff though so we've never used anything from them)

these are just the "good" companies; there's also a bunch of cheap ones, some of which are pretty decent
