apparently crosley (you know the company that makes the really bad quality record players but also the only one still making record players) isn't a new company

we found a crosley branded *regenerative receiver* with a manufacture date of *1920*

(regenerative receivers are really low quality radios but the first ones made that had actual amplification, they've been obsolete for basically a century)

we don't know if it still works. we could probably find replacement tubes; i doubt they're anything particularly special--the bigger problem would be getting A and B batteries

also like, it's a regenerative receiver. they're incredibly fiddly and you have to basically constantly watch the gain knob to prevent them from oscillating

oh we'd also need a C battery because this apparently requires one, but that's not as difficult, can make one of those easily out of six AAAs
