anyone here familiar with vacuum pumps? when something says max vacuum of 26 mmHg, does that mean that it can go to -26 mmHg gauge pressure, or that it can go to +26 mmHg absolute?

er, actually this is talking about inches of mercury, so inHg not mmHg

but same question still stands

oh i ended up finding the answer to this, things rated in mmHg or inHg are generally rated on their negative gauge pressure, while things rated in fractional torr or μmHg are rated on absolute pressure
