in video games, do you prefer:
-F

@Felthry This is proportional to how much aim assistance there is. With enough, we prefer high damage, with little low damage

@violet ah so it's related to how much of a penalty missing is, to you?
-F

@Felthry Hmmmm I'm not actually sure on this one!

I think I like high damage slow but only if it's not so slow as to be annoying.

@Felthry i feel like the latter is often just mathematically better

if you can do 0.1 damage in 0.1 seconds or you can do 1 damage in 1 seconds, the first is going to better because you can do like 1.4 damage in 1.5 seconds but only 1 damage in 1.5 damage

@monorail what if it's 0.1 damage in 0.1 seconds but 1.2 damage in 1 second?
-F

@VoxSomniator yeah! i guess more people like the slow attacks than i'd expected

@Felthry @VoxSomniator

dang we missed the poll.

but yeah high-damage slow attacks are like, we kind of prefer it. sucks when you miss or w/e but feels so *amazing* watching a big chunk of a enemy's health bar disappear all at once

@nautilee @Felthry Same. It also feels like it gives you more time to do other things in between shots, rather than having to constantly aim!

@VoxSomniator @Felthry

gimme attacks like FFXIV's MCH's DRILL. 20 second cooldown, hits like a freight train.

@nautilee @Felthry Ohh, cool

The example I was thinking of is warframe, which has a wide variety of weird cool gun things

@VoxSomniator @nautilee we thought this poll up while playing the new hyrule warriors, thinking about how different it feels to play Impa (very very fast attacks that do very small amounts of damage) vs Daruk (*heavy* attacks that are real slow but do a lot of damage)

@Felthry @VoxSomniator

...hrm, see, now there in HW / HW:Legends we tended to prefer Linkle who is very fast-firing, mid damage.

In that case it comes down more to range, though. She outranges most of the other characters on early combo attacks it feels like.
