what is gup.pe and why are people freaking out about it

@Felthry it's a fediverse ... bot instance? thing? which will listen for any @ mentions to any username and boost the post from that account
so people can make up a @ for whatever group, share posts to it, and get those posts distributed to everyone who wants to listen to posts from that group
a couple problems have been reported with it, however:
- it ignores privacy settings when deciding whether to boost, which means followers-only or direct message posts are boosted even though they are never supposed to be boosted
- it doesn't support delete requests, so if someone tags a gup.pe account with a post and then deletes it, the boost will remain on the gup.pe account

@Felthry reportedly it shares every post it boosts as public, which we would immediately see as a problem for people (e.g. us, frequently) who want to talk to /only/ the direct listeners without going out on public times

@Felthry Bot... instance for bots? that boost any post it's tagged in INCLUDING followers-only and DMs (???).
oh and it doesn't respect deletes.
