@Felthry I had to sleep on this to grasp aspects of it that I hadn’t parsed the first time. I’ll start with the most general bit.
The problem with trying to talk to someone while they’re triggered is that a triggered person can’t hear *you*. Nor are their emotions reacting to you—they’re reacting to the past, as though it was now. (From watching myself and others, the triggered state looks to be isomorphic to an emotions-only flashback.)
