no matter how odd or unusual an opinion may be, chances are someone has it

this realization brought to you by me realizing that there is probably someone, somewhere, whose favorite Zelda game is phantom hourglass

@Felthry

Frankly it would be my favorite for its good use of the DS' unique hardware, except for the fact that the copy we owned literally was unbeatable due to a bug with the final boss.

@Felthry

It's a tough call that's mostly dependent on mood between OoT and Twilight Princess. The latter my main complaint is the art style (can we get some actual color thank you), and the former is just showing it's age a little. They are basically the two games we think of when we think Zelda in general, and are the ones we've actually replayed a few times.

@Tryn Good choices! i think TP's art style is a response to the early backlash that wind waker got for its art style (which i think everyone pretty unanimously agrees now is a fantastic art style but some people hated it at release).

Majora's mask is probably our favorite, just for how well it did the dark themes that TP failed to recapture, and how intricate it is

@Tryn also it has some masterful use of music to portray very specific emotions

@Tryn (this one being "knowing that everything is going *entirely* to shit but denying it fervently in the hopes that it will stop, but you can't quite keep up the façade")

@Felthry @Tryn

I knew before clicking that link it would be Clock Town Day 3.

@nautilee @Tryn just from knowing how much we appreciate that one, or from also knowing it as a masterclass in emotion in music?

majora's mask posting~

@Felthry @Tryn

The latter. It's also our favorite and we knew you'd at least mentioned liking it before, and it's defo the first thing that comes to mind when we think of emotion in that game. It (especially in combination and /contrast/ with the 1 and 2 music) does an amazing job of painting the town's mood.

fun fact, we remember as kids first playing MM on a tv with no stereo hookup and being blown away by something about how it sounded when we heard it on a TV with a stereo hookup later.
