@Felthry there was a planned right wing protest in dc cause today is when the official electoral college votes are done. Trump spoke at the protest, called for them all to go to the capitol, and well, they did. Cops let the protestors into the capital building while the vote was happening, causing an emergency evacuation and lockdown of the capitol, and well, essentially right wingers tried real hard to ignite the civil war they want

@Felthry (also heres the cops opening the gates for them to enter the capitol https://twitter.com/cevansavenger/status/1346920924310867968?s=21 )
us politics stuff, violence (--)
@Felthry a lot of armed pro-Trump people broke into the US Capitol building in DC and also some state capitols, I think? and tried to do an armed takeover
I think the latest news is that they were driven out? https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/trump-supporters-storm-capitol-dc/2021/01/06/58afc0b8-504b-11eb-83e3-322644d82356_story.html is a Washington Post article on it

@packbat this sounds like the beginning of the end of the US, honestly
it may take a few decades or even a century but i honestly can't see any scenario where future historians don't point at 45 as the beginning of the final decline of the american empire
that's probably a good thing but i hope the instability doesn't cause too much harm
