Idly wondering why electrostatic CRTs were comparatively rare outside of electrical test equipment. Why did they always use electromagnetic ones that are harder to drive? Or are they easier to drive and we're just wrong?

@Felthry I think the larger you scale them up the less effective electrostatic controls were.

It's also entirely possible that electromagnets were just cheaper too.
