@Felthry Learned a couple months ago the Ancient Romans had a ceremony, going to the outskirts of a city they were at war with and exhorting that city's gods to join Rome's instead, either their stories merging into their rough equivalents' or becoming new characters. I didn't realize the cultural-assimilation process was quite that literal and went beyond copying the Greek gods.
@Felthry Yeah; it's just the process of actually, like, going out and having a *ceremony* to invite (say) Syracuse's gods to see the errors of their ways and align with Rome's fascinates me.
