long, today's misadventures
no one on our end was informed that we needed to have a forklift, and no one on their end was informed that we didn't have a forklift, so we had to go rent one last-minute
luckily the truck driver knew how to use one
then we had to use a tow strap to pull the pallets close to the edge of the truck so we could actually get them with the forklift, and we got one pallet off the truck but then the tow strap snapped
so we had to run and buy all the sufficiently heavy-duty chain they had at ace hardware and fortunately that was enough but
then the forklift broke down so we had to call the rental place and they sent someone out to jump start it, and we managed to get the second pallet off
then we very nearly got the third pallet off when the forklift broke down again, so we had to wait another hour for the rental place to send another person to fix it again
then we finally got the third pallet unloaded, at 4:45 pm
the truck arrived at 8:00 am
the driver had planned to pick up another shipment and be on the way to the other side of the country with it by noon
