i just described RG-316 as having a distinctive color, and i mean it does, but that is *such* an us thing to say

it's also quite expensive cable, though what might feel a bit counterintuitive is that it's not because of the silver--it's because of the plastic. It's very thin silver plating, hardly any actual silver in there--the reason it's so pricy is actually the insulation. FEP is an expensive plastic, though one with excellent properties for this particular purpose--good electrical insulation, highly flexible, and withstands really high temperatures

(it uses FEP for insulation, which is a brownish transparent plastic through which you can see the silver-coated copper shield underneath. It's quite pretty cable, as cables go, actually)
