We learned the other day about an interesting type of transistor, called a static induction transistor or SIT

It's basically just a really short-channel JFET designed to have *really* strong channel-length modulation, and it has transfer characteristics almost identical to vacuum triodes

They were used for some audiophile equipment in the 70s and 80s, since they apparently have that "tube sound" that audiophiles love
