@owashii@plush.city It's not a good idea for squeaky hinges either!! it gets rid of the squeak for a short while but then the squeak returns even worse before long

WD-40 is *not* a lubricant, its entire purpose is to get rid of water, that's what the WD stands for, "water displacement"

@owashii@plush.city it happens to be slightly lubricating, but it's volatile and evaporates fairly quickly because that's what it's designed to do, push water away and then get out of the way itself

you want actual lubricant, even nonstick cooking spray would probably work better than wd-40 (though *that* may go rancid over time, being organic; just use proper lithium grease or something)
