it turns out the NEC pc-engine is tiny??? a copy of spyro the dragon was the closest thing to hand for a scale reference

this is a coregrafx, the second hardware revision of the console, but it's the same physical size as the original

we got an opportunity to get one for real cheap a few weeks ago and it finally arrived from japan (games are region locked but we plan to get a flashcart anyway)

seriously though we were not expecting it to be this *tiny*

it's a pretty capable console for its time which is all the more impressive considering its diminutive size, especially compared to how large its contemporaries were (it came out after the NES/Famicom but before the SNES/SFC and Genesis/Megadrive, i believe, all of which were at least like three times as big as this)
