I've had this idea for awhile, in the "If I ever design an RPG" bin. If you're presented with a choice that has gameplay implications, you can press a button to have the game explain exactly what you're deciding-- yes even if it spoils something.

If you're asked to decide between two NPCs in a dispute, the optional button would explain "Whoever you pick will join your party".

I'd jokingly call it the Anti-Kawazu button.

@trysdyn The Trails of Cold Steel subseries does something similar, with explicit callouts, in a text style completely reserved for system messages like this, that taking this action "will cause the story to progress and some/all uncompleted sidequests and events will become permanently unavailable"

@trysdyn I am also curious who or what Kawazu refers to.

@Felthry Akitoshi Kawazu, producer and designer of the SaGa series. Known for liking really obscure and obfuscated mechanics in charge of really important game progression factors.

@trysdyn Oh, from the SaGa games we've played, that makes complete sense.
