surprise! the entire Book of Psalms only contains ten (10) praises of G-d [citation needed] [many people are typing] #DafYomi #RoshHaShana32

@glitternoodle Now I'm curious if they try to explain that by overanalyzing what counts as "praise", or by attempting to change how they're counted and/or redefine "ten"

@Felthry surprise! it's by redefining "the Book of Psalms" to mean "just Psalm 150, actually"

@glitternoodle unrelatedly, i kind of avoided it earlier (and will be attempting to avoid it here too) but while typing that first reply i realized i don't know if it's proper for non-Jews to also censor the name of the deity when talking to Jews, or if it's rude or even appropriative to do so--would you mind giving some insight on that?

kinda awkward when you're pretty sure that either doing a thing or not doing the thing is rude, but don't know which

@Felthry not at all rude to ask! i don't know if there's a Strong Consensus across all Jewish communities, but my vibe is that it's sweet and thoughtful when people take the vowel out of G-d when chatting with me, but it's not at all something i expect, and i'm not at all upset when they don't do it — there are a lot of Jewish people, in fact, whose practice doesn't include doing that in English, so as far as i'm concerned it's not a huge deal either way

but thanks for checking in! i'd say do whatever feels comfortable to you? i can roll with either
