I appreciate that the protagonist of the Ys series, Adol, is literally just an "adventurer", in that that's what he calls himself and what he does
there's no contrived story of some average farmer kid becoming a great hero or anything, this is someone who literally set out with the intent of having amazing experiences, and is successful at it

it is entirely possible that, since the game's framing device is that these are records of his travels that he wrote long after the fact, the story has been exaggerated in the meantime, though
