so it occurred to me in the shower

kingdom of loathing has three main stats, and two classes focused on each stat?

you've got two muscle classes, which naturally focus on strength and physical power

two mysticality classes, which are magically focused in somewhat different ways

and two moxie classes, which focus on speed and agility

@00dani oh that's like a modern Ys game, with two party members for each damage type

@Felthry sorta but not exactly? kol doesn't really have a party as such

you pick one of the six classes, the game is played pretty much solo, and after finishing all the story quests you have the option of doing a new game plus kinda thing with one of the other classes. and then you do that all over again until you've played every class as many times as you want

also, the basic damage types are physical and elemental, rather than having muscle/mysticality/moxie damage? muscle and moxie classes both focus on physical damage, but moxious characters tend to prefer ranged weapons over melee ones. muscle increases hp, so muscular characters can withstand more hits, while moxious characters are better at dodging and therefore not taking hits to begin with

then there are five different types of elemental damage (hot, cold, spooky, stench, and sleaze) which are most commonly dealt by magical attacks but can also just be added as a rider on regular weapon attacks by wearing the right equipment

@00dani it just reminded me of ys because we've been playing ys viii and now ys ix lately
