@Felthry And I just found another set of troubleshooting steps which mentions that the game requires Visual C++ redistributables, which no others I've seen have mentioned, so that *might(????)* be worth looking into. Here's that guide: https://www.ghostarrow.com/how-to-fix-elden-ring-wont-launch-crashing
@LexYeen actually that second link in your last post suggested that, which we're currently trying to do -F
@Felthry Ahhh, I guess I glossed over that! My mistake.
@LexYeen also ghhhh, update windows
we've disabled that since we got this computer in 2018 because fuck all the stuff microsoft kept adding to windows 10 to make it worse
-F
@LexYeen i'm not even sure how to turn it back on to update properly but i'll at least run the updater for the security updates we didn't disable
-F
@Felthry Good plan, and definitely worth looking into re-enabling windows update at least long enough to bring the system up to current patch levels. There's no telling what kind of back-end changes could be fucking with trying to run Elden Ring.
@LexYeen well we did the update and elden ring still doesn't work and also the steam link doesn't stream right anymore, it's showing the entire image from the monitor instead of just the window it's supposed to be showing
-F
@LexYeen so now we have two problems instead of one
-F
@LexYeen okay we got the steam link problem fixed
-F
@Felthry Blaaargh. I wish I had more to offer!
@LexYeen thank you for the help at least
-F
@Felthry Ugh. Suck.
I've also got a list of known bugs and launch issues, and some of them sound like your problem. https://www.windowscentral.com/elden-ring-known-bugs-and-launch-issues
And here's a set of troubleshooting steps others have found useful, in the event something on it is something you haven't tried. https://whatifgaming.com/how-to-fix-the-elden-ring-crash-at-launch-issue-on-pc/
