Pokemon Legends Arceus
So in the game, at the very beginning, the Pokemon creation deity, Arceus, gives you a device called the "Arc-phone" before sending you back to ancient times.
However, as there are no other phones (presumably) at this time, it nullifies the devices use as a "telephone."
So it's really just an Arc-Pocket-Computer.
But hey, that's just a theory.

I'd like to imagine that Arceus hasn't figured out how telepathy works over the phone, so you just hear a Pokemon cry on the other end.
