Related to https://hackers.town/@erosdiscordia/108193675807521124 LB: An interesting difference we ran into between Mastodon and Twitter/Tumblr is that you don't get any notifications for posts you boost. On those sites, you get positive notification feedback from reblogging viral posts; on here, you just don't. If you want to see people reacting positively to your presence, you have to post yourself.
It's a small change, but also ... not. Mastodon isn't desperate to make posts go viral. It'd rather you participate.

@Felthry I'm not sure why the decision was initially made, but the effect of it is to make people feel accomplished for making posts go viral, and I think the ad-based monetization model of Twitter and Tumblr profits from posts going viral.
