:dragnmlem: <- full of ideas for a Minecraft-ish survival game that caters to her own niche interests

Oh right was gonna make a thread thingy

don't really have it in me to make something super cohesive so just gonna dump ideas out in a bullet-point list without particular order

game ideas thread thingy

So, using Minecraft as like, a baseline sorta, here're my ideas (and keep in mind these come from someone who enjoys things like TerraFirmaCraft):

- Lots of different plants. Like, a lot a lot. Dozens of different flowers, crops, trees, etc. all with specific ranges in the world. Maybe even procgen flora?

- Wide variety of aesthetic customization for crafted items (containers, tools, clothing/armor, etc). Dyeing, engraving, patterning, carving, painting, etc.

- For the above, flavor text on items describing the decoration on them (especially since graphically representing it all would be a bit Hard). Kinda like Dwarf Fortress.

- Much larger variety of crafting processes, and all of them take time (and maybe have "minigames" involved). Kinda along the lines of TerraFirmaCraft's smithing and clay-forming/knapping/leatherworking systems?

- Tying into the above, a general balance shift towards time invested in making things even after materials have been obtained, to help slow down resource-snowballing that you see a lot in SMP minecraft servers and stuff

- Magic/enchantment system with a lot more depth; things like imbuing items w/ power during crafting vs. adding it later, different ways to give power to objects, etc

- Brewing/alchemy system that operates almost like chemistry, with things you add to a bubbling potion cauldron containing different "substances" that then react with one another to produce others, and each "substance" having different effects - some good, some bad, sometimes both, sometimes nothing by themselves

- Ores & minerals being vein-based rather than homogeneously-distributed nodules, with surface-level indicators

- Variety of stone types that all can be used in roughly the same ways (looking at you, Minecraft's andesite/diorite/granite :ohno:)

- Worldgen that has both large-scale geologic patterns and smaller-scale geologic diversity (looking at you, TFC worldgen :ohgod_ohfuck:)

re: game ideas thread thingy

@starseeker the majority of these are available as minecraft mods i'm pretty sure

re: game ideas thread thingy

@Felthry i mean, yeah, but they're mods for an existing game which limits a lot of what can be done, and makes them (generally) beholden to preexisting game mechanics they have to either balance themselves around (limiting possibilities), replace (breaking any other mods that rely on them), or ignore (rendering themselves either overpowered or useless)

@Felthry you're good, dw! Just, not really looking for recommendations or such, only wanting to get my ideas out there ^^;
