Changing batteries is faster than recharging a built-in lithium polymer pack, cuts down on e-waste since you only need to replace battery cells (or proprietary packs) instead of the entire device, and in a lot of cases it feels cooler to jam a fresh battery or set of batteries into a device than it does to plug it in to a power source.
That last one's why I like changing batteries the most.

@LexYeen i don't look forward to when we *do* need a new phone when something breaks that can't be replaced, because no one makes them with replaceable batteries anymore
