why does nearly every scifi alien species have the planet named after their own species or vice versa

we don't call earth "humania", and earthlings isn't our species name so what gives

scifi species should have their own unique names for their home planets made by their own culture

@Aetous some scifi stuff does the inverse, having the name for humans on the intergalactic stage be "terrans", which sort of implies that it's not a species name as much as a demonym

but then it gets used as a species name anyway even for members of the species who live elsewhere

"Demonym instead of species" is a good way to look at it. A Columbian settler isn't necessarily related to Christopher Columbus.
