Of the words in English most in need of spelling reform, I can think of few more deserving than naval terminology.

I do see bosun ("boatswain") and gunnel ("gunwale") commonly enough these days, but fo'ksil (forecastle) is still a complete mess.

@starkatt fo'c'sle is the only word we know of with multiple apostrophes in the word itself, not as part of a multi-word contraction.
