@Felthry Originally, alt.sex.fetish.robots, a Usenet newsgroup about ... well, what's there in the name. But but also about transformation into robots, mannequins, petrifaction (and related transmutation, like turning to glass or to gold), and so on.
The term ASFR escaped Usenet, and serves as a catch-all for that sort of thing where someone's quite interested in the non-biological replicas of something.
