still catching up on SGDQ VODs, and just saw triforce% - having already watched swankybox's explainer that dropped just after the live run but before the VOD

i am very much not a fan of how the GDQ presentation was handled, even if I'm sure it would have been amazing live

the truth as presented in the swankybox video, that so much of the run was new assets built to match pre-release screenshots, the beta bits we do have, and playground rumours, would have been fine

by presenting it as "this is all on the cartridge, just broken", and knowing that the misinfo will be seen so many times more than the explanations... it kind of cheapens the whole thing for me

it still would have been an incredible feat of engineering with the truth being said on stage

but i guess i'm more sensitive to misinfo about the beta parts of games than most

@Dex we're kind of on the fence about it personally because they don't ever actually claim that *everything* they're showing is actual beta content, and everything that they *do* say is beta stuff actually is

we're also personally familiar enough with the game that we caught on pretty much immediately, if it had been a game we weren't so familiar with or if we'd been in a worse mood the day we saw it, i don't think we would have been as okay with it as we are

@Felthry I think part of it for me is that things are intermingled; when they say things are on cart it’s not made clear enough that’s the models or mechanics only and not the stuff they’ve made up to glue it all together

My stance is basically “if the truth was made clearer during the run, this should not have needed the disclaimer on the TCRF page”
