One trick to having encyclopedic knowledge is to, y'know, actually build up a library of references.

I've been indexing items in Zotero for the past few months, and lol, lmao. Being able to quote, link, and reference sources feels so incredibly useful??

Personally I like the *idea* of academia more than I like academia itself.

"To contribute something to the field, you probably want to read what others have been up to. And when you write about something, please share links to other writing so interested folks can read more!"

Probably the other thing is to credit the folks you work with. That's great; let's go.

I like this. I will do this. But oh god if I ever don't want to engage in the gamification hell-scape that ties financial incentives to citations. Absolutely not.
