Every time KF makes major rounds in the news this small cell of folks show up and start going "Maybe we should repeal 47 USC 230" and I'm 99.9% sure these people aren't speaking in good faith.
The powers that be have many, many legal inroads to stop this. It's not that they can't, it's that they don't want to. Giving them more power won't make them want to.
@Felthry Section 230 of US Code Title 47. Title 47 is the "Communication decency act". Section 230 is a provision that states a content host cannot be prosecuted for something someone posted on their platform as if they them self said it.
@trysdyn Ah. I'm pretty sure repealing that would not be in the best interests of most of the internet; it would spell doom for sites like this, for instance -F
