thinking about the night i spent critiquing (positively) the philosophy and politics of the first hour of disco elysium with my leaffriend while drinking tea, and going "yeah, i made it"
this is it. this is what i've always wanted my life to be
relatedly, we devoured the first season of The Legend of Korra in like two days after he put on an episode for background noise and I was like "hold the fucking phone, this show kicks ass, I'm actually watching this"
@gardevoir unfortunately it gets worse in the later seasons. Primarily because of Studio Nonsense.
(they had the whole four-season show planned out, then the studio told them nope you only get one season. so they crammed the whole story into one season, then the studio said "guess what! we're giving you three more seasons" and they had to make up more stuff on short notice)

@Felthry I was *really* wondering about this, based on how they compressed a whole character arc into the last five minutes of the last episode
I've heard like "yeah it's good but it has problems" from everyone I've mentioned it to, so I look forward to seeing what those are as I work through the rest
@gardevoir yeah the rest isn't awful, but it definitely isn't as good

@gardevoir like if the studio had just. not changed their mind *twice* it would have been good
even if it had only just gotten the one season you would at least see it and know they did the best with what they had. but because it *has* four seasons it feels really weird how rushed it gets
