we saw a post someone made for newcomers mentioning that others were saying not to fav posts on here (and saying that you absolutely should)
since the person who made that post didn't respond to my asking, could someone explain why people are saying you shouldn't...?
-F
@lioness considering that there's a current influx of people from twitter i'm wondering if there's just some Difference between how they work there and here
-F
@Felthry I would disregard this person
@sharkNserg it's a little unclear what you mean--are you saying disregard the person saying "you should fav things, ignore the people saying not to" or disregard the people they mention as saying not to fav things?
-F
@Felthry oh, the latter, sorry
@sharkNserg yeah we planned to anyway, iw as just wondering why people would be saying that
-F
@Felthry because faving is for feeding the algorithm, which we don't have? because giving someone positive feedback is a capitalist attempt to manipulate them? because it's fun to prank newbs?
maybe some fediverse software doesn't support it?
idk I'd chalk it up to people are weird and have their own weird interpretations of a 1-bit signal & projecting that onto everyone else
