I just used both my new appliances to make dinner! (Long boring description of kitchen antics follows)
First I shredded onion, carrot & celery in my food processor (and then I dropped the food pushers on the floor and broke off half the rim of the small one, grrrr, but just now I ordered a replacement on Hamilton Beach's website, yay).
Then I sauteed the shredded veggies (that's called mirepoix!)
Then I put them in the rice cooker with a cup of rice, 2 cups of chicken stock, chopped smoked sausage, a can of sliced mushrooms, and some Mrs. Dash Table Blend and turned it on.
28 minutes later, I had a piping hot pot of enough rice pilaf for 2 or 3 meals, with only a little crusting on the bottom (which didn't stick to the pot, so yay!)

@KinkyTurtle was it a good pilaf?

food and seasoning
@KinkyTurtle fortunately, you can add a little more salt after the fact without too much trouble! it might just not be very well dissolved, which would mess up the texture a bit. Use big flaky salt though and you can say you intended it to be that way! Or you could saltify it with a splash of soy sauce perhaps! Not sure how that would go, but it might taste good.
spices are hard to add afterward though, at least the powdered kinds. Fresh ground black pepper can usually be added, or some dried (or fresh!) herbs. The flavors you have in there would probably go well with sage, thyme, or maybe some rosemary? Basil is also usually a safe bet for most things.
Maybe stir through some chopped garlic, though you'd probably want to saute it instead of using raw garlic, raw would probably be too intense.

@Felthry
I actually added powdered garlic. I was thinking maybe it could use a bit of cardamom.
