*clicks the application launcher button on my 10-year-old potato*
KDE Plasma: *panicking and frothing, kwin crashes twice, user journal flooded with QML warnings, before finally appearing and lagging for a few seconds even after that*
me: yeah Linux desktops have problems but you evaluate it in context and take the positives and the negatives

*clicks the start menu button on my gf's two-month old $1k gamer computer with its PCI-e SSD and all that*
Windows 11: *fucking nothing, gaslighting me into wondering if the start menu is even still a thing, until it flickers on the screen for a few milliseconds*
me: oh wait now I remember why I left

When I installed Windows 10 on this machine in 2017 I found the UWP interfaces to be obnoxious and un-ergonomic. But above all else, they were sooo slow and unresponsive.

At that time I just assumed it was a consequence of my machine being kind of underpowered and maybe having some kind of unusual configuration that Microsoft didn't optimize for or test against. Perhaps I was giving them too much benefit of the doubt.

@squeevee Ever since 8, we've not been able to use windows without classic shell. Ever since 10, that's been classic shell + oosu10. I wonder what new thing we'll need to get rid of new "features" in 11 when we can't avoid it anymore.
