pokemon s/v, full story spoilers, version differences
having fully played through both, i feel like this is the first time it's very easy to tell that the story was written with one version in mind and hastily adapted
i can buy both professors creating the tera orbs
and to a lesser extent the time machine, as futuristic as it is
but it's difficult for me to think of the combination of "professor obsessed with past" and "sophisticated robot beyond the limits of modern technology"
pokemon s/v, full story spoilers, version differences
sending the robot to the past also presents some dilemmas that are not present with sending the other robot to the future
i would have liked to see just any sort of acknowledgement, "hey, this isn't going to somehow fuck up the timeline, is it?"
even the music that plays when you get a phone call from them sounds like it was written more for turo than sada

@Dex we played violet and were wondering how they would change things for scarlet. going by this, apparently they changed the thing that we didn't expect and seems completely unimportant (who the professor was) and did not change the things that would be most important (the existence of the robot and the robot going to the other time period)

re: pokemon s/v, full story spoilers, version differences
@Felthry i knew the professor was different from the early trailers, but yeah, was very surprised at how little of the story was changed beyond substituting future for past, father for mother, violet book for scarlet book
the robot still speaks in the same glitched out way during the final fights as well
re: pokemon s/v, full story spoilers, version differences
@Dex i wonder if the story making more sense in violet means they're going to break their convention of having the version you say first be the "default"? like how "red and blue" -> red, "gold and silver" -> gold, "ruby and sapphire" -> ruby and so on
