Painted myself into a corner with room decor. Covered the outlets I needed for my nightstand with a tapestry and don't much fancy the idea of actually running current through anything touching the fabric.
So I fixed this with a DC extension cable and running it from the next outlet over-- which I'm unsure is a much better idea...
unsolicited advice
@trysdyn My recommendation: get an extension cord with a fuse in it, and use a smaller-than-necessary fuse to be extra safe. If you need the full 1800 W on a nightstand, something has gone horribly wrong; you can use a tiny little fuse and have enough for a lamp and some chargers.

re: unsolicited advice
@trysdyn The low voltage DC extension cable is going to have more losses under normal conditions than a lower-current line voltage one, so it may actually be less safe (though the supply it's plugged into is presumably severely current-limited, so it shouldn't be a *problem*, but still)
