It sure is a good thing there’s no consistent timeline for Zelda games, because their mythology would be wildly inconsistent if there were.

@ziphi i wonder if the goddess worship in botw/totk is the result of some kind of past ancient-religion-revival movement that got way more successful than any in the real world

more likely there's just no consistent timeline though. we've always kinda liked the idea that the whole series is, in some hypothetical frame-story universe, a bunch of different cultures' takes on the same ur-myth

@Felthry Yeah, that’s pretty much how I treat the stories myself. It makes more sense to me than a retroactively written timeline for a series that was not written with that in mind.

As for in-universe mythology, there are just so many different things going on in recent games. And all of them seem to be real. Which is neat, but I wonder how they interact even within the context of a single newer game.
