notes on some various technical stuff I've done today:
• NPM's "seedrandom" library is really handy but too slow for my needs. I need to replace it with something simpler in order to generate thousands of random numbers really fast from a given seed.
• Side note on the above: when mocking out an RNG for testing, just use Math.random(); trying to be cute with something like "() => 0.1" to return a constant will lead to infinite loops because I use constructs like "while random number < 0.5" a lot.
• Installing Windows 11 on my Framework thingie wasn't going smoothly, but installing Ubuntu on it and then running Win11 in a VM there is working pretty well so far.
Awoo.space is a Mastodon instance where members can rely on a team of moderators to help resolve conflict, and limits federation with other instances using a specific access list to minimize abuse.
